What Is Roof Repointing?
Roof repointing replaces the worn pointing along the ridge and hip capping of a tiled roof with a new layer that seals the joins against water, wind and dust.
Two layers hold your ridge caps in place. The bedding is the mortar the caps sit on, and the pointing is the finishing layer applied over the top to seal the joins.
Older roofs were pointed with a sand and cement mortar, which becomes brittle over time and cracks, crumbles and falls away. Once the pointing fails, wind-driven rain can get under the caps and into the roof space.

Repointing only lasts if the work underneath is sound, so we check the whole roof and repair what needs repairing before a single joint is sealed.

Replacing Broken Caps and Tiles
Cracked ridge caps and broken tiles are replaced first, so nothing damaged gets sealed in.
Rebedding Where Needed
If the bedding underneath has broken down, we rebed those caps so the new pointing has a solid base to grip.
Cleaning and Preparing the Joints
Loose material, dirt and lichen are cleaned away from the joints so the new pointing bonds properly.
Applying the Flexible Pointing
Flexible pointing is applied along every ridge and hip and tooled neatly into the joins for a clean, weathertight finish.
